Dr. James Griffin joined the medical staff at South County Hospital in 1997.
He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology from State University of New York, College at Cortland, and his Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, MO. He subsequently attended the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City MO, earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. Upon graduation, he completed a rotating osteopathic medicine internship at Union Hospital in Union NJ, followed by an internal medicine residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. After practicing as a board certified internist in Saratoga Springs NY, he returned to Albany Medical Center to complete a residency in anesthesiology.
He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology. He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and a Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists. He has served multiple terms as a member of the Rhode Island Board of Licensure and Discipline and is an active member of the Federation of State Medical Boards, American Society of Anesthesiologists, RI Society of Anesthesiologists, American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists, American Osteopathic Association, RI Society of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, and the RI Medical Society. He has also served on medical missions to China and Honduras.
